Movie Review: True Grit

True Grit is a film that is well directed, well acted, and well edited- and unlike most films made today, it is a film that relies on story (as opposed to CGI, Super Hero’s, or explosions). I have not read the book this is based on (or even seen the original film), but apparently the remake version of the film is based more on the book, and stays true to its nature. Newcomer Hailee Steinfeld is an obvious standout in the film, but my favorite performance was actually Matt Damon‘s. Damon plays a Texas Ranger who is very colorful and comedic at times, but also takes himself very serious. His chemistry with Jeff Bridges is great, and brings a lot of fun and flavor to the film. This film will definitely be an Oscar contender considering it has the dream team of Directors and Producers- including Joel & Ethan Coen, Scott Rudin, and Steven Spielberg. The film is a must see- and a positive film for filmmakers worldwide. I wish studios would take more chances on throwback stories like True Grit.

EXCLUSIVE PICS: Things Fall Apart with 50 Cent

Earlier this year I was lucky enough to work as the sports choreographer for the upcoming 50 Cent film Things Fall Apart. Working with Fiddy was awesome, he is one of the kindest and most professional gangsta rappers I have ever met. And probably the only one. haha  Regardless, even though 50 never played high school football, or any other organized sport, he had no hesitation strapping on the pads and going heads with REAL college players. Just below are a few never before seen photos from the film. Enjoy!

Movie Review: The Fighter

I went and saw The Fighter today in theaters and was pleasantly surprised at how great the film was. Great acting, compelling story, and authentic 90′s feel. Christian Bale was amazing- possibly one of the best performances of his career. Knowing that Bale is a method actor, I wouldn’t be surprised if he wasn’t actually on crack during a few of those scenes. Extremely convincing, and well played. Mark Wahlberg was great too, and had great chemistry with Amy Adams. The look and feel of the film was dead on- Cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema matched the 90′s HBO look exactly, and gave me flashbacks to my childhood days. The film has grossed almost $30 million domestically thus far.

JC Penney Ad Campaign

I had the pleasure this week to work on the upcoming JC Penney ad campaign with the awesome people from 3 Star Productions, and the creative team from Saatchi & Saatchi NY. The upcoming campaign was shot by photographer Coliena Rentmeester, who’s work you have probably seen in recent J Crew, Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie campaigns. Even with difficult weather in LA this past week, the photos still came out beautiful. Here’s a behind the scenes pic from the shoot. Will be sure to post the final pictures once the campaign is released.

Tron: Legacy debuts to $46.3 million opening weekend

Although the sequel came out almost 3 decades after the original, that didn’t stop Tron: Legacy from opening to a solid $46.3 million dollars- and $66 million worldwide. Tron 2 was made for an estimated $150 million, and Disney spent at least another $100-120 million on worldwide marketing. Tron: Legacy stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde.  Are you going to see the film?

Here’s how the top 10 rounded out…
