I wish the best for the writers, and im sure things will be back to normal soon enough. Clause vs Cruise… Its New Movie Friday!

Friday, November 9th, 2007

Two heavy weights are going toe to toe this weekend in Theaters- Fred Clause vs. Lions for Lambs. So who will come out on top? Even though Tom Cruise is one of the most notable celebrities in the world, its tough to beat out a crossover comedy like Fred Clause, which will appeal to both kids and fans of Vince Vaughn. And even though Robert Redford is directing and Starring in Lions for Lambs, does anyone really want to go see another political film? Even if it is relevant to our society today, I think the general public wants to escape through film, instead of being reminded about the long gestating war in Iraq. What do you guys think? Drop me a comment and let me know…

WGA Strike may become official Monday

Sunday, November 4th, 2007

According to the Hollywood Reporter, WGA negotiators unanimously decided to bring a strike recommendation to the leadership on Friday. This means the strike could become official Monday, and who knows how long (or short) it could last. A lot of scripted Prime Time Television Shows will be affected, including smaller orders of episodes for shows like Hero’s, Criminal Minds and CSI. A lot of other TV shows might be canceled altogether, so prepare for more reality shows! (Dont get me wrong I love a good reality show) Check out this photo of Criminal Minds star AJ Cook that Tyler Shields shot for a recent editorial.

Lindsay Lohan shooting with Tyler Shields!

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

A very interesting article hit news stands today in OK! Magazine about Tyler Shields’s next Art book, The Dirty Side of Glamour. For you magazine rookies out there, OK! Magazine is very similar to People Magazine or US Weekly. Anyways, an article featuring Lindsay Lohan printed today, mentioning how she will be featured in the upcoming book. Tyler and I have been working on this book together for almost a year, so it was a pleasant surprise to see some free press out there. We have already shot some amazing celebs for the book, so when its released be sure to pick up a copy because there will be a very limited amount printed. But check out the article below, and let me know what you think about the concept of the shoot… ahahaha

WGA could (will) strike in a few hours!

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

Thats right! And most likely it looks like it will happen. For any readers out there who aren’t involved in entertainment, this is a really big deal. Feature Films in America are the number two domestic export, only second to video games. And when the WGA went on strike in 1988 for 22 weeks it cost the industry an estimated 500 million dollars. Im not sure what that translates into today, but I would have to guess at least a billion! Thats insane! So if (when) they do strike, who will be the most affected? The answer to that is TV, but more specifically shows that are written the day of taping. Late night shows like The Tonight Show, The Late Show, Late Night With Conan O’brien, and etc etc will just shut down altogether. Also, many other types of shows like morning shows, and other comedy shows like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. The current WGA contract expires at midnight, so only roughly 3 hours left- so pretty much the strike will happen. So, good luck to all you writers out there! Also, Happy Halloween!

And I thought I would post a random new photo today, so check out this Tatyana Ali pic which is featured in Tyler Shields book 4by5.

Is LOST cursed???

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

While searching through online news articles today about last weeks southern California fires I came across another interesting story, a fire in Hawaii recently burnt down LOST star Evangeline Lily’s house. Although this is unfortunate, I heard that she was only renting the house (but im sure it still sucks). But also this month, actor Josh Holloway’s house was burglarized at gunpoint in Honolulu. The thief took cash and credits cards, and even drove off in his Mercedes Benz. hmmm… weird… And, to top it off, Daniel Dae Kim (wh0 plays Jin on the show) was arrested for DUI ! Is there some sort of LOST Halloween curse? Not likely, but it seems like the cast of LOST can’t be having that great of a time in Hawaii filming the 3rd season. The next season is highly anticipated by fans, and we won’t see another episode till a month after the new year… But at least the show is getting publicity!

Actress Linda Cardellini

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

The new issue of Eliza Magazine featuring Linda Cardellini on the cover just recently hit news stands. For those of you who don’t recognize Linda, she is currently on ER, and was also on Freaks and Geeks, in Brokeback Mountain, Grandma’s Boy, and the soon released film The Heaven Project (Which also stars Paul Walker). Linda was great to work with on the shoot, as well as a lot of fun. If you want an issue of Eliza just stop by your local Barnes & Noble and pick one up. Check out the pic below…

Movie Review: 30 Days of Night

Monday, October 29th, 2007

I finally had the time last night to go and check out vampire horror film 30 Days of Night. The film was great in my opinion! If you like Vampire flicks, and really gory slasher films, then this film is for you. The Director David Slade did a great job blending the graphic novel and the film into one. I also liked how he re-invented the Vampire look, as well as gave them their own language. Josh Hartnett was good in the film, and Ben Foster’s small part was well played. Also, i’ve never seen so many heads chopped off with an Axe in one movie. so the film had that going for it (Thanks Sam Raimi!). The film has made almost $30 million so far, with an estimated budget at $32 million. So it looks like it will be a financial success as well as an entertaining movie.

Actor Shane West

Friday, October 26th, 2007

If there are any fans of A Walk to Remember (or Mandy Moore) then you definitely know who actor/teen heart throb Shane West is. Shane has starred in numerous films including The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Get Over It, and most recently What We do is Secret- the film about the rock band The Germs. This film looks great, and with Shane’s musical background, i’m sure it will be amazing. Im not sure if it’s true, but I even heard that Shane was so good in the movie that The Germs actually reunited for a few shows, and Shane filled in for Darby Crash flawlessly. The DVD should be out soon, so if you get a chance check it out. In the meantime, check out the photo below that Tyler Shields shot of Shane….

Elect the Dead out today… And there was a party to prove it!

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Thats right, Serj Tankian has finally released his new solo album Elect the Dead which hit retailers today. I had the pleasure of attending the album release party tonight at the Vista Theater in Los Feliz with friend and photographer Tyler Shields (who shot him for a recent Risen Mag spread), and it was great! As i mentioned in a previous blog, Serj is a really good person, and its nice to see good people succeeding at what they are most passionate about- which for him is bringing awareness through his music. Anyways, the theater played all the music videos for the new album- which were all made for under $10k. It was a great idea to make a music video for everyone song off the new album, and I liked a few of the videos a lot. Check out a few pics I snapped on my iPhone below….

WGA Strike coming soon…?

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

So it looks like the WGA is going to strike- which could have ripple effects felt throughout the industry- but we don’t yet know for sure. The current contract ends at the end of October, and the WGA members have already authorized a strike with over 90% approval of those who voted. The outcome of this will be found out very shortly- but i’m guessing they will strike till roughly the New Year, then come to a resolution shortly after that. Only time will tell…

On a completely separate note, I have been trying to update all the sections more day by day. But mostly i have added some pics in the photography section. One pic I just added is for Hollywood rocker Mickey Avalon, which Tyler Shields shot.   My old roommate said about 6 years ago that Mickey was going to be huge, and thanks to myspace he has a huge following. Check him out below…

LA Fashion Week – Complex/Harley Davidson Party recap

Friday, October 19th, 2007

Two nights ago i stopped by good ol’ Boulevard 3 on Sunset to support friend and photographer Tyler Shields who shot a few spreads for Complex Magazine featuring Harley Davidson motorcycles. You can check out TylerShields.com for some pics from the shoot. Also, Tyler shot a really cool video of behind the scenes of the shoot which you can check out by clicking HERE. Its worth it, trust me!

Anyways, I only stayed at the party for a hot minute, but I did run into a few funny celebs like David Hasselhoff and Bai Ling. Once i saw those two, I knew it was time to go. But I snapped a pic of the party with my iPhone before I left, so I thought i would share it with you.
