The first Hostel was a huge success, and everyone had really high hopes for the sequel. However, the film only opened to a $8.2 million dollar weekend, which disappointed some people. But to Eli Roth’s credit, Hostel 2 has become the most illegally downloaded feature film of all time- which equals Zero dollars to the box office. Personally, if I was Eli I would have been very upset, because film making is a business. But on the flip side of things, as a film maker, the true goal is to get as many people as possible to see your artwork- so the coin has two sides. What do you guys think? Which is better… getting paid or having millions of people see your artwork?
