Its the Holiday Season in North America so that means there are a flurry of new releases in theaters. First, the newcomers will have to overcome last weeks champion I Am Legend which has already grossed $97.2 million since it opened last weekend. New to theaters is Johnny Depp musical The Legend of Sweeney Todd, which has been promoted heavily online- especially on myspace. Also in theaters is Nicole Cage fueled sequel National Treasure- Book of Secrets. This sequel to a rip off of The Da Vinci Code will surely bring in major dollars considering the original has made over $340 million worldwide. Another new release this week is Tom Hanks / Julia Roberts film Charlie Wilson’s War. This film appeals to a specific demographic, so i’m sure it will do decently, but not amazingly. And if that wasn’t enough, here’s what else is new to theaters; Walk Hard : The Dewey Cox Story, The Great Debaters- Directed by and Starring Denzel Washington, and Alien vs Predator: Requiem. So there’s plenty of choices for everyone, and if you don’t want to go out to theaters then rent a really cool surf film, The Forgotten Coast. You can get it at Blockbuster or Hollywood Video.
